It was almost too predicable when Donald Trump announced his candidacy for President of the United States. No, not the news of him actually seeking the Republican nomination, but rather how the state-controlled media and members of the Democratic Party (sorry to be redundant) would react to this announcement.
It is historic in that a real citizen is seeking this august office rather than the usual members of the professional political class. Remember from your government-issued history book, the original concept of our budding democracy was to have a citizen-based form of leadership. Successful citizens were asked to put their family, fortune, and professions on hold to serve the greater good for our country.
