This morning the usual suspects (customers) at the Bean & Bull were involved in a rather heated discussion over the “new dietary guidelines” just issued by the Department of Agriculture for food that is served to preschoolers by childcare providers. It seems that Mrs. O and the two little oo’s, having just returned from their taxpayer funded shopping vacation throughout Europe, has decided to expand her highly unsuccessful school lunch standards and double down at the pre-school level.
I have written of this failed lunch program before and outlined how more than one million students annually are leaving the lunch line. This number is from a Government Accountability Office, GAO, report that included an audit of the “Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act” and reports that 48 of our 50 states face significant challenges in complying with Mrs. O’s program.
